The three yards
Each one is a different brief.
- Backyards, whole or in part
- A whole-yard build is a sequencing job before it is a design one. Drainage and grade first, turf last, so nothing later has to cross it.
- Front yard
- A front garden is looked at rather than walked on, which changes almost every decision — and it is the part an HOA reviews.
- Side yard
- The side yard is the most wasted space on a suburban lot and the most constrained — a four-foot strip decides what machinery can reach the back.
